Iranian President Hassan Rouhani put forward a new cabinet line-up on Tuesday.
Vice president for parliamentary affairs, Hossein Ali Amiri, submitted to parliament the list of 17 cabinet nominees for Rouhani’s second term of office.
Iran has 18 ministries and the nominee for heading the Ministry of Science is yet to be announced.
Besides the list, Amiri also submitted the nominees’ records as well as the new cabinet’s agenda to the Parliament for the vote of confidence, IRNA news agency reported.
President Rouhani took oath at the parliament’s formal session on Saturday. He won the 12th presidential election on May 19, sweeping 57% (23 million) of the votes that brought him a second term in the office as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
There were no major changes to Rouhani’s government.
The defense minister, Major General Hossein Dehghan, was replaced with his deputy, General Amir Hatami. The deputy economy minister, Masoud Karbasian, also replaced his boss, Ali Tayebnia.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh retained their positions.
