The Lebanese Minister of Information, Melhem Riachy, said in the wake of the cabinet session held this Wednesday that President Michel Aoun had called “on the judiciary to play a key role in tuning down security chaos, in cooperation with the security services,” praising “the performance of the Army and the security forces.”
The minister quoted the President as warning “against the transformation of Syrian refugees’ camps into incubators for terrorists,” calling upon the Army, the security forces and the people to cooperate against crime.
“The Cabinet expresses its appreciation and support for the Army and its proactive action to pursue terrorists. Any voice of doubt on the credibility of the Army is rejected,” Riachy assured.
“Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, said that communication with the Syrian regime is a matter of disagreement, stressing the government’s desire for the return of displaced Syrians to their country as soon as possible,” he went on.
“We have agreed, since the formation of the government, to put political differences aside,” the minister said, underlining the importance of filling vacant posts, when touching on the appointments issue.
