Israeli occupation army announced it had targeted Syrian positions in Quneitra countryside late Wednesday.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) said it was responding to a projectile launched from Syria towards the occupied territories by firing at Syrian positions.
“Moments ago, a projectile fired from Syria hit an open area in northern Golan Height, no injuries reported,” the IOF’s Twitter account posted on Wednesday.
Later on Wednesday, the IOF reported it had “targeted the Syrian military position that fired the mortar.”
Israeli media reported that the mortar was fired at the same time that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in the so-called settlement of Katzrin in Golan at a ceremony marking the town’s 40th anniversary.
