The White House said on Wednesday night that US Presidentt Donald Trump administration is going to review the nuclear deal with Iran.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that Trump’s decision to review the deal, known as JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), is a ‘prudent’ step toward deciding if the US should pull out of the agreement.
Spicer said Trump is ‘doing the prudent thing’ by conducting a 90-day review of JCPOA to make sure that Iran is living up to its side of the deal.
He said that the White House decision on the deal will be announced within 90 days.
He added that Rex Tillerson, the US Secretary of State, certified this week that “Iran has thus far complied with the terms of the JCPOA.
However, Tillerson warned that the Iranian regime’s support for terrorism could threaten the future of a deal former President Barack Obama touted as one of his biggest foreign policy achievements.”
