Two Palestinian prisoners have been reported to have martyred as a result of torture while in Israeli custody. Islam Al-Sarsawi, 42, from Shujaiyya District, and Omar Abdel Aziz Jneid, 26, from Jabalia, are the latest victims of brutal interrogation techniques.
Al-Sarsawi was detained during a raid on Al-Shifa Hospital and was tortured at the Sde Teiman concentration camp, with his death occurring four months ago. Jneid, on the other hand, passed away on June 17 while in Israeli custody after enduring severe interrogation and torture.
The families of the deceased were only informed of their loved ones’ deaths today, showcasing the lack of transparency surrounding these incidents. Palestinian organizations specializing in prisoner affairs are calling for immediate international intervention to put an end to these human rights violations.
The Prisoners and Released Prisoners Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners Club have called for immediate international intervention to halt forced disappearances and unprecedented levels of torture in Israeli prisons.
They demand a thorough and independent international investigation into these abuses and call for accountability for the Israeli authorities involved.
They further called for the formation of a comprehensive UN investigation committee to address these crimes and ensure that the systematic abuses faced by Palestinian prisoners are brought to light, and stressed the critical need for international pressure to address the ongoing suffering and prevent further violations of human rights.
