Syrian army and its allies pushed further into the Syrian oasis city of Palmyra on Thursday a day after they controlled strategic areas that overlook the ancient city.
ISIL Takfiri terrorists were reported to be fleeing Palmyra on Thursday with Russian and Syrian helicopters pursuing the militants, Hezbollah’s Military Media Center reported.
The Military Media also published two videos for the Syrian army and allies in Palmyra in Homs countryside, noting that the Syrian army soldiers were working on dismantling mines planted by the terrorists near Palmyra castle.
Earlier on Wednesday the allied forces established control on Palmyra Triangle area and Tar strategic mountain, inflicting heavy losses upon the terrorists.
Meanwhile on Thursday, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that ISIL militants were pulling back from Palmyra.
By Thursday morning, ISIL had withdrawn to residential neighborhoods in the east of the city, the London-based observatory said.
“ISIL withdrew from most of Palmyra after laying mines across the city. There are still suicide bombers left in the eastern neighborhoods,” observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.
