Syrian army and allies advanced towards Palmyra in Homs countryside on Monday, inflicting heavy losses upon ISIL terrorists.
Syrian sources told al-Manar that the allied forces took control of al-Maqalea heights and Tamthil city west of Plamyra.
The Syrian army also came closer to Matar Mountain, which overlooks the entrance of Palmyra city, following fierce clashes with ISIL Takfiri terrorists the source said, adding that a number of insurgents were killed and injured in the clashes.
Meanwhile, the allied forces controlled al-Hayel Height which overlooks Palmyra Triangle southwest of the city, according to the sources.
