On the verge of the 38th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei attended the late Imam Khomeini mausoleum to pay tribute to the founder of the Islamic Revolution and the martyrs.
The Supreme Leader also visited the tombs of the firefighters who lost their lives in Tehran’s Plasco Trade Center and prayed for their souls.
Imam Khamenei also visited the tombs of the martyred defenders of the Holy Shrines in Syria and paid tribute to them.
Plasco Trade Center, the 17-storey building collapsed on Jan 19 while a number of firefighters were inside the building to rescue those trapped in the huge fire. 16 firefighters lost their lives.
The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran from exile (Feb 1, 1979) marks the beginning of the Ten-Day Dawn in Iran, which culminates with the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11, 1979.
The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 38 years ago, ending 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.
