The Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri noted that Lebanon cannot bear up months of procrastination in the presidential elections file, adding that the solution starts with electing new president who is capable of restoring trust in the state institutions.
Speaker Berri indicated that the regional and international atmosphere may be suitable for the Lebanese parties to reach consensus pertaining the presidential elections amid absence of any veto against any candidate.
Speaker Berri added that the presidential file is in need of the continuation of the local contacts and the clarification of the international atmosphere.
The Lebanese Parliament has held eleven rounds of voting since October, with no candidate garnering enough support to succeed former president Michel Aoun whose term ended on October 31.
