Iranian Shura Council adviser Hussein Amir Abdollahian said on Monday that the conflict in Syria can be only resolved through a political solution.
“A political solution is the only available means to end the crisis in Syria,” Abdollahian told reporters after talks with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh.
The top Iranian diplomat expressed hope that all the efforts exerted at this stage would resolve the crisis and fend off the threats posed by “radical terrorist groups.”
Abdollahian arrived in Beirut on Monday morning for talks with senior Lebanese officials.
On Saturday, Amir-Abdollahian met with Syria’s Ambassador to Iran Adnan Hassan Mahmoud in Tehran and hailed the Astana talks as a good opportunity for Syrians’ resistance to gain a political advantage against Takfiri terrorism.
