The head of the Ukrainian president’s office has described Russia as “the European Hezbollah” during a conversation with Jewish leaders in which he issued a further appeal for Israeli military aid to combat the ongoing Russian invasion.
“Russia is a terrorist state that today uses Iran in its fight against the US and its allies, including Israel,” Andriy Yermak — chief of staff to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — told participants in Thursday’s online meeting.
“Russia is the European Hezbollah,” he added, referring to the Lebanese resistance group.
Yermak claimed that without reliable air security systems – hinting at “Israel’s” systems that the entity has refused so far to supply Ukraine with – “no one in Ukraine will be able to feel safe.”
In another context, according to the Ukranian official, Jewish public organizations “are now able to influence the situation and persuade the Israeli government to provide Ukraine with the necessary systems.”
“Today, the voice of each of you and your organizations is critically important in the issue of air defense, in which Israel has really great experience, and most importantly – it has these systems,” Yermak emphasized, as reported by Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
The call came just two days after Moscow warned “Israel” that supplying Ukraine with military equipment would destroy the political relations between the two sides.
