An explosion occurred at a mosque north of Kabul, Afghanistan, on Wednesday, and resulted in at least 35 people who may have been killed or wounded, according to Reuters.
Other media have reported that “As a result of an explosion in a mosque north of Kabul, 20 people were killed and another 40 were injured.”
Since reclaiming power in the country in August 2021, the Taliban movement has been battling a local chapter of IS-K, which is believed to be responsible for the majority of terrorist attacks and bomb explosions in Afghanistan.
The presence of IS-K in the country is minimal, and the movement has been working to eliminate the group, according to the Taliban.
Clashes erupted between Taliban militants and IS-K militants earlier this month in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
The clashes took part in the Kartal Sahi area and lasted until the evening hours.
