A 21-year-old Palestinian youth succumbed to his wounds three weeks after suffering from a serious head injury following an Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
Walid Al-Sharif has been fighting for his life for the past three weeks; he fell into a coma on April 24 and was in a critical condition since.
Al-Sharif’s head or neck was reportedly targeted by a sponge-tipped Israeli bullet, according to his family and witnesses.
At the time of his injury, Israeli occupation forces raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, and Al-Sharif was one of 57 Palestinians injured during the brutal attacks on worshippers.
During Ramadan, thousands of Palestinians challenged Israeli restrictive and repressive measures, making their way to Al-Aqsa Mosque to pray. Yet, the Israeli occupation forces turn the third holiest place for Muslims into a battlefield.
