The Yemeni people reject any settlement if concluded outside their homeland as Saudi Arabia imposed a new presidential council and sacked the outgoing president Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
Hadi announced, on Thursday, that he has formed a new council to lead the country, knowing that Rashad Al-Alimi, a former interior minister and Hadi’s adviser, will lead the new council of 8 members.
A UN-brokered truce that began Saturday, the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, has provided a glimmer of hope for Yemen, which is regarded as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
Under this truce, all land, air, and sea offensive military operations were to stop, according to the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg.
In the aftermath of the Saudi-led coalition war on Yemen, which lasted 7 years, 30 million Yemenis are in dire need of assistance, not to mention that 80 percent of the population depends on aid.
Head of Yemen’s national delegation, Mohammad Abdul Salam, said that the road to peace passes through halting the aggression and lifting the blockade, considering that the announcement of new council in Riyadh aims at unscrambling the aggression cards.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni army and popular committees managed to repel an attack launched by the Saudi-led mercenaries in Wadi directorate, Marib province.
