Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Saturday that the cabinet did not meet to protect any specific sector, but rather to preserve balances in the country.
Mikati affirmed keenness on the independence of the judiciary, reiterating rejection of any interference in its affairs.
The premier also called on the Association of Banks to avoid escalation and cooperate to get out of the crisis.
Mikati finally reflected the government determination on holding the parliamentary elections on time.
The Association of Banks in Lebanon decided to carry out a strike on Monday and Tuesday in rejection of judicial sentences against a number of banks.
