China appeared reluctant on Tuesday to discuss Ukrainian crisis within the Group of 20.
The Group of 20 is not an appropriate platform in which to discuss political issues, including the Ukrainian crisis, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Indonesian media reported that Indonesia, as the current chair of G20, does not intend to include the Ukrainian crisis on the agenda.
“G20 is a multilateral mechanism for economic cooperation, it is not appropriate to discuss political and security issues such as the situation in Ukraine,” Zhao told a briefing.
He added that at the moment, G20 has important responsibilities to promote international cooperation in the fight against the pandemic and to ensure a stable recovery of the global economy.
