Millions of Iraqi and foreign pilgrims visited the Holy Shrine of Imam Kadhem (P) in Baghdad to mark the anniversary of his martyrdom.

Strict measures were taken by the Iraqi security forces to protect the pilgrims. Meanwhile, administrative staffs carried out the logistical measures which help the pilgrims during the event.

Crowds of pilgrims took to streets in a mocking funeral of Imam in the northern neighborhood of Kadhimiyah.

Imam Kadhem (P) the seventh of 12 revered imams in Shiite Islam, was martyred in 799 AD. The commemoration has been a huge event that brings the Iraqi capital to a standstill for days.
