According to Al-Manar TV sources, the cabinet formation process has reached a stalemate that will lead to unknown destinations. The breakthrough, in this regard, is unexpected, and the PM-designate Najib Mikati may quit his governmental mission.
President Michel Aoun had told his visitors on Wednesday that the nomination of the two remaining Christian ministers is still a disputable issue, reiterating he has never demanded the blocking third as a condition to approve the government lineup.
It has been agreed that the lineup will include 24 ministers, and, according to the Constitution, they have to be distributed equally over the Muslims and Christians. 10 out of the 12 Christian ministers have been nominated by President Aoun, Marada Movement, and Syrian Social Nationalist Party. Thus the nomination of the two remaining Christian ministers is still a disputable issue between President Aoun and PM-designate Najib Mikati.
On July 26, Mikati was nominated by 73 members of the parliament to form the new government during the binding parliamentary consultations at Baabda Palace.
