Hamas slammed Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
In a statement on Monday, Hamas spokesman Abdul-Latif Al-Qanou described Abbas meeting with Gantz as a ‘stab in the back’ of the Palestinian people.
“The move is a treason to the blood of our martyrs,” Al-Qanou said, as quoted by Al-Aqsa TV.
Abbas met with Gantz in Ramallah on Sunday night, hours after Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett returned from Washington DC.
“This evening I met with PA [President] Mahmoud Abbas to discuss security-policy, civilian and economic issues,” Gantz tweeted after the late night meeting, the details of which were published just after midnight on Monday.
