The Shibli family on Monday called the competent security and judicial authorities to speed up the arrest of those responsible for the attack on the funeral procession of the martyr Ali Shibli, warning of dire consequences if killers remain unpunished.

Ali Shibli was shot dead at point blank range while attending a wedding on Saturday. His funeral procession came under fire in the region of Khaldeh; three mourners were martyred, and several others were injured.

“While we were bidding farewell our martyr son Ali Shibli, and while the procession reached his home in the region of Khalda, [the procession] was subjected to a precise and calculated ambush,” the family said in a statement.

“We maintain that our martyr son is not a killer, and that what was claimed by his murderers is untrue,” the statement added.

“We call the competent security and judicial apparatuses for the speedy arrest and fair punishment of killers, lest there be dire consequences,” it said.
