A suicide bomber killed around 48 of fugitive, outgoing president Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi soldiers on Sunday when he detonated his explosives at a gathering in the southern Yemeni city of Aden, military officials and medics said.
ISIL terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying in a statement that the suicide bomber had gotten through security checkpoints before blowing himself up.
Many others were wounded in the attack that targeted a crowd of soldiers gathered at a base in northeastern Aden, the sources said.
The attacker immersed himself among the soldiers at Al-Sawlaba base, in Al-Arish district, a military official said.
The attack comes eight days after a similar bombing in Aden claimed by the ISIL ‘jihadist’ group killed 48 soldiers and wounded 29 others.
