An Iraqi group claimed responsibility for the drone strike on the Saudi Capital, Riyadh, stressing that the attack was in retaliation for terrorist bombing in Baghdad earlier this week.
In a statement, Al-Waad Al-Haq (The Righteous Promise) Brigades said the drone strike was in retaliation for the Kingdom’s support to Takfiri terrorist groups in Iraq.
“The Gulf’s Arabs went too far in their crimes and support to criminal gangs of ISIL and Takfiri groups whose hands are stained with innocent blood,” the statement said.
Following such “crimes, natives of the Arabian Peninsula have fulfilled their promise and sent drones of panic to the kingdom of Al-Saud, hitting their bastions in Al Yamamah Palace and other targets in Riyadh,” the group added.
It said that the battle has been transferred into the Saudi depth, vowing that the next strike will target the United Arab Emirates, citing Abu Dhabi’s complicity in the terror attacks in Iraq.
Earlier on Saturday, Riyadh said it was subjected to drone strike, claiming that it has destroyed the ‘hostile target’. It also accused Yemeni revolutionaries of staging the attack.
Iraqi media cited military sources as saying that Kingdom’s accusation the strike was from Yemen indicates Saudi failure in determining the nature of the attack and the side it was launched from.
Dozens of civilians were martyred and injured on Thursday, in a double suicide bombing that rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Iraqi media reported that the suicide bomber was a Saudi national, accusing both Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in sponsoring terror in the Arab country.
