Terrorists of the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) takfiri group are killing residents of Iraqi Mosul refusing to put rocket launchers on the roofs of their houses, Ravina Shamdasani, a United Nations human rights spokeswoman, said Tuesday.
Other civilian victims of ISIL reportedly suffered for allegedly leaking information or attempting to escape the city held by the terrorist group.
“On November 11, ISIL reportedly shot and killed 12 civilians in Bakir neighbourhood of eastern Mosul city for allegedly refusing to let it install rockets on the rooftops of their houses,” Shamdasani said, as quoted by the Sky News outlet.
The Iraqi offensive to recapture Mosul, the last ISIL stronghold in the country, began on October 17. Human rights watchdogs have repeatedly warned of the escalation of violence in and near Mosul.
