Lebanese President Michel Aoun received on Friday a call from French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
The Lebanese Presidency announced that the call tackled the formation process of the new Lebanese government.
“The French President stressed the need to continue efforts to secure the birth of a new Lebanese government as soon as possible,” Lebanese Presidency said in a statement.
Macron has been in the latest weeks leading an initiative to form a new Lebanese government. He visited Lebanon for two times since the deadly blast at Beirut Port which took place on August 4, killing nearly 200 people, injuring more than 6,500 others and leaving tens of thousands of people in the capital homeless.
However, the initiative has been in the last few days stalled with Lebanese media reporting that the United States and its allies in Lebanon have been attempting to get Hezbollah out of the cabinet.
