The Lebanese House Speaker, Nabih Berri, called Wednesday on the government and Central Bank to announce financial emergency over the collapse of the national currency exchange rate against the Us dollar, stressing that it is unacceptable to let the black market take the citizens as hostages, pertaining the foodstuffs, fuel, and medical drugs.
In a meeting with the commanders in Amal Movement which he leads, Speaker Berri highlighted the importance of reforming the various economic sectors in Lebanon, including the power production, emphasizing that none of the donors would assist Lebanon without carrying out the required reforms.
The House Speaker pointed out that Lebanon is now exposed to the same conditions it suffered in 1982, adding that plots to invade by all means are being plotted.
Speaker Berri stressed that Lebanon will certainly stand by Syria against the Caesar Act, highlighting the Syrian support during the country’s hard times.
