Syrian President Bashar Assad’s political and media adviser, Buthaina Shaaban stressed that Syria is ready to confront any aggression, noting that the latest US strike on Shairat airbase in Homs came after achievements carried out by Syrian army.
In an interview with al-Mayadeen TV channel on Wednesday, Shaaban reiterated that the local reconciliations taking place throughout the country without foreign interference are the best way to restore security and stability to Syria.
Meanwhile, the Syrian diplomat stressed that the US attack on al-Shairat airbase came in the aftermath of the Syrian army’s achievements on the ground and the losses inflicted upon the terrorist organizations.
The strike also came as Russia increases its role in settling the crisis in Syria, Shaaban said, describing as “wrong” the impression about the inability of Syria and its allies to respond to the US aggression, SANA news agency reported.
She stated that Khan Sheikhoun incident is definitely fabricated, adding that Syria got rid of all chemical weapons as declared by the Organization of the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in June 2014.
