Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Tuesday Iran has reached a point where it can strike “any target it chooses” with its missiles, highlighting the country’s development of military capabilities over the past decades.
Ghalibaf said that during the Iran-Iraq War, Iran faced severe restrictions on access to military equipment. Even barbed wire was difficult to obtain, while the range of the country’s artillery was limited to around 14 to 15 kilometers. Artillery shells were also rationed at the time, he said.
The Iranian speaker said the experience of that period contributed to the development of Iran’s defense capabilities, adding that the country has now reached a stage where it can target any location it chooses with its missiles without restrictions.

Ghalibaf also said Iran would not surrender in the “hybrid war” involving military, economic, media and diplomatic pressure. He said the country would continue operating and respond with strength.
Addressing US President Donald Trump, Ghalibaf said the US president could not impose his power on Iran or its armed forces. He described Iran as a country with a long historical civilization and a national and religious resistance, saying Iran has established sustainable deterrence capabilities.
Ghalibaf also described negotiations as another arena of confrontation, saying diplomacy should not be viewed as surrender but as a means of translating power on the ground into political gains, according to Iranian media.
He reiterated that I=the Islamic Republic would neither shut down the country nor surrender, saying it was capable of standing against its adversaries and responding with force.
