Prime Minister Hassan Diab said Monday that his government will not hinder the endorsement of the 2020 state budget prepared by the former Cabinet, and that it leaves it the Parliament to discuss and approve the bill.
“The government will not obstruct a budget that was set by its predecessor and discussed within the Finance House committee and the joint panels,” Diab said from the Parliament.
“Therefore, the government leaves the matter to the Parliament but preserves its right to submit proposals to make amendments to the budget, after gaining confidence,” he added.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers have begun voting on the state budget law in secret ballot, National News Agency correspondent reported.
