Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has commented on US National Security Adviser John Bolton’s call for Ankara not to undertake military operations in Syria without an agreement with Washington.
Erdogan has criticized Bolton’s recent statement, saying he made a “serious mistake”, and that Turkey could never compromise on the issue of the Kurdish YPG militia.
The Syrian Kurdish YPG militia’s fight against ISIL is nothing but a huge lie, Erdogan stated, speaking to members of his AK Party in parliament.
“It is impossible to accept the message given by Mr. Bolton in Israel,” Erdogan said.
“Claims that Turkey targets Kurds in Syria is dishonorable, ugly, vulgar and defaming,” Erdogan said.
On Sunday, Bolton had said the US will not withdraw troops from northeastern Syria until the Turkish government guarantees it won’t attack Kurdish fighters.
