China called on the United States Friday to show evidence to support charges that Beijing backed a scheme by Chinese and Taiwanese companies to steal trade secrets from a US-based semiconductor firm.

“If the US side is really concerned, they should provide concrete examples that can withstand the test of evidence and facts,” foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang told a regular press briefing.
