Lebanese Army on Thursday congratulated the Lebanese people on the 18th anniversary of Resistance and Liberation Day, stressing that the era when the country;’s south was an open field for Israeli assaults has gone.
“18 years have elapsed and the Resistance and Liberation Day remains a bright historic chapter that we celebrate with hearts filled with pride, as we revive the day when we triumphed over the Israeli enemy and encircled the borders with dignity and national sovereignty,” an Acting Army Commander’s Order of the Day said, according to the National News Agency.
It is an occasion where we commemorate the resistance and massive sacrifices offered by the nation’s martyrs and wounded, thus illuminating the path of glory, paved with their noble blood, and developing into examples in sacrifice and dedication so that Lebanon can be independent and free.”
The national army said that Lebanon “is now a haven for safety and stability thanks to the will of the southerners and preparedness of the army to defend it.”
However, it warned that the Israeli enemy, “which continues to commit vicious massacres and crimes against the Palestinian people, is persistent in plotting malign schemes with the aim of satisfying its greed in our land and waters.”
In this context, the Lebanese Army voiced firm determination to defend the country’s rights, urging the army soldiers to be fully prepared the defend the dignity of the nation.
