Iran reiterated on Tuesday its warning against new US measures to blacklist the Revolutionary Guards, stressing that such move by Washington will lead the US to join the terrorists’ camp.
Iranian government spokesman, Mohammad Baker Nobakht stated that “the world should be grateful to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards for fighting terrorists”.
According to the spokesman, the US shouldn’t pressure Iran while negotiating regional issues.
Baker’s warning echoed a similar one by Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi, who warned earlier on Monday warned that the country’s reaction to the possibility of the Iran Revolutionary Guards being designated as a terror group would be ‘firm and crushing’.
In July 2017, the United Stated imposed new sanctions against the country’s ballistic missile program. In response, Iran has increased its program’s funding.
It is expected that US President Donald Trump will designate Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization, as he plans to reveal a tougher new strategy on Iran next week.
