Joint operations in Iaq said on Sunday that the ISIL terrorist group is now controlling less than one percent of the old Mosul in the right coast of the city of Mosul after the progress of the Iraqi forces in the area.
Joint operations spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Rasoul said in an audio message distributed to media outlets that Federal Police continue to progress in the area of al-Farouq and seized control of parts of the neighboring area northwest of the old Mosul.
“Heroes of “We are coming, Nineveh” Operations are going towards liberating the rest of old Mosul,” he said, noting that the Federal Police are still going ahead with besieging al-Jomhouri Hospital where ISIL terrorists have been stationed.
Meanwhile, Raoul noted that the Iraqi forces are now helping trapped civilians to evacuate the city.
