Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani lashed out at Saudi Arabia, saying policies adopted by Riyad are to the detrimental of the Muslim Ummah and in favor of the Zionist entity.
In a meeting with ambassadors of Muslim countries late Monday, Larijani said certain Muslim countries’ attachment to Tel Aviv is catastrophic, referring to Riyadh.
“We have tried hard to make the Saudis understand that their measures are to the detriment of the Muslim Ummah, but they only make harsher remarks every day and engage Muslim countries,” he said.
Larijani said that Saudi’s policies in dealing with regional countries is “very unpleasant”, saying the Saudis exert force in Syria, attack Yemen to make it their own backyard, fuel tensions in Bahrain, and have now targeted Qatar.
“Eventually, all Saudi moves are in favor of Israel,” said Larijani, adding that they want to keep terrorists on their feet and even provide support to some terror groups such as al-Nusra Front.
“The dependence of some Muslim countries on Israel is catastrophic and a stain of shame, while the Muslim Ummah should be sensitive to the fate of Palestine,” Larijani said.
In this context, the Iranian speaker urged Muslims “not to be trapped in a bigger plot,” stressing that International Quds Day is of great importance and that Muslims have to demonstrate unity in this day.
The late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, named the last Friday of the lunar fasting month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, which falls on June 23 this year.
