Israeli occupation forces shot and injured a Palestinian on Thursday near the holy Ibrahimi Mosque in Al-Khalil (so-called Hebron).
Occupation police claimed that the Palestinian attempted to stab an Israeli police.
“Officers responded when the suspect approached them armed with a knife,” Israeli police said in a statement, adding that the area was closed, and that the Palestinian was from Al-Khalil.
An Israeli hospital treating him described the Palestinian as a 25-year-old man in light to moderate condition, Agence France Presse reported.
The occupied territories have been since October 2015 rocked by a wave of unrest due to strict Israeli measures especially in al-Quds and near al-Aqsa Mosque, with Zionist settlers, backed by IOF, repeatedly storming the holy compound.
Palestinians have been retaliating for the Israeli attacks by stabbing attempts. However, the occupation authorities have been using such attempts as a pretext to kill Palestinians.
Since October 2015, 261 Palestinians have been martyred while 41 Israelis have been killed.
