Iran on Tuesday denounced recent comments by the United States vice president, calling them an attempt to promote Iranophobia.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said US aims to promote Iranophobia and continuing US hostile policies against the Iranian people and government.
Mike Pence in a recent address at a meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) said, “This administration has put Iran on notice. America will no longer tolerate Iran’s attempts to destabilize the region and jeopardize Israel’s security.”
“Iran’s nuclear program is quite transparent and all the reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding Iran’s nuclear activities show that they remain to have a peaceful and transparent nature,” Qasemi said reacting to comments by Pence.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman slammed Washington for its support of the Zionist regime and helping it produce and stockpile of hundreds of nuclear warheads.
“The Zionist regime is the real source of instability and insecurity both in the region and across the world,” Qasemi said.
Referring to Iran’s attempts to develop its missile program, he stressed that the program has a sole defensive and deterring nature.
“Iran’s missile program is quite defensive and it aims at deterrence and tends not to be against any nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Iranian diplomat said that to strengthen its defensive power, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not going to ask for others’ advice, neither is it going to allow any interventions.
