Gaza ceasefire talks were renewed overnight in Cairo with the concentration on the Israeli withdrawal from Philadelphi corridor on the borders between the Strip and Egypt.
Mohammad Salami, a senior news editor at Al-Manar English Website, elaborated on the issued in an interview with Al-Manar TV.
US President Joe Biden’s top Mideast adviser, Brett McGurk, is participating as part of the U.S. delegation with Egypt and ‘Israel’, according to CBS News Website.
The discussions encompass a number of technical issues, among them, security of the border between Gaza and Egypt, the Rafah crossing and Israeli occupation forces withdrawal from Gaza and the Philadelphi corridor.
CIA Director William Burns is also expected to travel to the region, since talks may extend through the weekend, the website added.
The U.S., Qatar and Egypt refer to their proposal as a cease-fire deal, but technically, it would begin with a six-week pause in fighting during what would be Phase One. During that time, some hostages would be released and Palestinian prisoners freed from Israeli jails.
An agreement to begin talking about an enduring cease-fire would follow, and during that extended pause in fighting, other incentive measures would be taken, including the release of more hostages.
Hamas, representing all the resistance movements, has rejected any proposal that does not include a complete cessation of the war on Gaza, full withdrawal of occupation troops, lift of blockade, insertion of relief aids to the Strip, and an acceptable prisoner swap deal.
The Israeli occupation army has been committing massacres against the civilians in Gaza since October 7, 2023. The Palestinian resistance groups have been confronting the aggression with a great steadfastness and bravery.
