US occupation forces launched early Saturday a blatant aerial aggression on a number of sites and towns in the eastern region of Syria, near Iraqi borders.
“US occupation forces launched early Saturday a blatant aerial aggression on a number of sites and towns in the eastern region of Syria, near Iraqi borders, leaving many civilian and military martyrs, inuring others and causing huge damage to private and public properties,” a Syrian military statement announced.
The statement added that the region targeted by the U.S. attack eastern of Syria is the same where the Syrian army fights remnants of ISIL terrorist group, and this affirms that the US is involved and allied with this origination.
“The US aggression today dawn has no justification, but it is an attempt to weaken the Syrian army’s capability to fight terrorism,” the statement added.
It stressed that the US forces’ occupation of parts in Syria couldn’t continue, and the General Command of the Army and Armed forces is determined to fight terrorism and liberate all Syrian territories from terrorism and occupation.
An Iranian security source indicated that that US aggression on the Syrian-Iraqi border area is a blatant violation of the Syrian-Iraqi sovereignty, noting that the form of the response will be determined by the resistance forces.
The security source denied the reports which claimed that the IRGC’s Al-Quds Force has barracks and bases in Syria and Iraq, stressing that such claims are false.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Iraqi Armed Forces General Yahya Rasoul stressed that the US aggression violates Iraq’s sovereignty and undermines the efforts of the Iraqi government.
General Rasoul warned that the US attacks may push Iraq and the entire region into what may leave unpleasant consequences.
The US Central Command had announced striking 85 targets in Iraq and Syria with 125 precision-guided munitions.
