13 ISIL commanders were killed in a strike by Iraqi army which targeted a meeting the terrorist group’s leader was attending, Iraqi army said.
Military media cell in the Iraqi joint operations command said that Iraqi intelligence forces have been pursuing ISIL commanders including the leader or the so-called “caliph” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The Eagle cell in the Iraqi intelligence pursued the terrorists as they came from Syria heading to Mosul in order to find a way to deal with the heavy losses inflicted upon them.
The military media of the Iraqi command said the incident took place on Thursday, February 9, when Baghdadi was along with other ISIL commanders were riding three Land Cruiser vehicles coming from Raqa.
At Al-Bu Kamal area the terrorists changed the vehicles, the Iraqi media said, adding that they spend two days at al-Abidi area, amid high security measures.
On Saturday, February 11, an Iraqi F16 warplane targeted a meeting attended by the terrorists group’s commander and headed by Baghdadi himself.
13 ISIL commanders were killed in the strike, according to the military media. However, the fate of Baghdadi was still unknown as his injury in the attack was not confirmed.
