Although political observers do not expect an imminent breakthrough, the contacts pertaining the Lebanese presidential elections have witnessed a noticeable progress.
In this regard, the French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian met in Riyadh with the Saudi cabinet counselor Nizar Al-Aloula to discuss the Lebanese presidential elections file.
The discussions will be continued during the quintuple meeting between the representatives of Qatar, Saudi, Egypt, France and US as Al-Manar sources reported that the French side is no longer interested in proposing a solution independently.
The sources added that Monday quintuple meeting will reinforce Le Drian’s visit to Lebanon next week.
Locally, Head of Free Patriotic Movement Gebran Bassil announced that the dialogue with Hezbollah was restored without preconditions.
This announcement was also met by Hezbollah Deputy Chief Sheikh NAim Qassem’s reiteration on his call to hold a national dialogue that ends the presidential vacuum.
