The Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri indicated on Thursday that France has continued supporting the candidacy of Marada Movement Chief Sleiman Frangiyeh for presidency.
Speaker Berri told Al-Akhbar daily that Frangiyeh answered a number of questions raised by the French officials during his recent visit to Paris, noting that they would discuss his answers with their Saudi counterpart.
The House Speaker clarified that the Saudi officials have not sent their feedback yet, adding that, once we obtain a positive response from Riyadh, the entire electoral procedure would occur in Lebanon.
Speaker Berri wondered how some Lebanese parties are hindering the presidential elections, reiterating that the Maronite are responsible for this delay.
Frangiyeh had stressed on Wednesday in a televised interview that he announce his candidacy for presidency if necessary, adding that his attitude towards Saudi Arabia is positive and historical.
Frangiyeh affirmed that Hezbollah and Syria trust him, adding that the Israeli enemy has not attacked Lebanon since 2006 for fear of the Resistance response.
