The Janus II survey vessel – operated by Keran Liban and contracted by TotalEnergies and its partners, Eni and QatarEnergy – arrived on February 17 at the Port of Beirut after completing an environmental survey in Block 9 offshore Lebanon, Total firm announced.
Total’s regional director Romain de La Martiniere said that the firm spent eight days on block 9, surveying the required environmental data.
The Lebanese energy minister Walid Fayyad stressed that the efforts exerted to invest the Lebanese maritime oil and gas would continue without any procrastination, adding that the preliminary studies indicate that the natural fortune is promising.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had warned against procrastination in extracting oil and gas in the Lebanese territorial waters, reminding the US and the Zionist entity that Hezbollah “was serious in all threats delivered regarding the maritime deal and wealth.”
