Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei has drawn attention to the importance of employing Iranian women in various decision-making posts.
“Involvement of scholarly, efficient, experienced, intellectual, wise and knowledgeable Iranian women in decision-making posts is an important issue. We have to find a solution for it,” Imam Khamenei said in a meeting with a group of women on Wednesday.
The meeting was held in the run up to celebrations marking Iran’s national Mother’s Day on January 13. The occasion coincides with the birth anniversary of Sayyeda Fatima Al-Zahraa (A.S.), the daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
His eminence slammed western countries ‘hypocritical’ stances over the issue of women’s rights.
“In front of West’s hypocrisy, Iran is an advocate for women’s rights rather than mere supporter.”
In the Western capitalist system, men have priority over women because they can make more money than women, the Leader argued.
“There was a time many years ago, when a number of students at a university asked me, ‘What do you have to say for yourself in defense of such and such a case?’ I told them, ‘I don’t have a defense. I have an attack.’ That is how it is with the issue of women,” Imam Khamenei added.
“The world is to blame. When I say ‘the world’ I mean the Western world, Western philosophy, and the existing Western culture. Of course, (what I am talking about) is the modernized West. I am not concerned about the historical West. That is a whole different matter. The modernized West is the one that has expressed its opinion on all aspects of life since about 200 years ago. We demand answers from them. They are guilty with regards to the issue of women; they are to blame. They have really inflicted harm. They have committed crimes,” his eminence stated.
