As the stadiums hosting the World Cup matches in Qatar were emptied from players and spectators, analysts in all domains began scrutinizing the various aspects of the tournament.
Argentina won the final and emerged triumphant after hard football matches. However, the competition included two rival teams who did not even play any match–Palestine and ‘Israel’.
Since the world’s most attractive sport show was hosted by an Arab country, the Arab people had the chance to reflect their civilization components and political stances towards the main issued topped by the Palestinian cause.
The Arab fans voiced their sentiments of love towards Palestine by raising the Palestinian flag on the pitch, in the stands, and around Qatar’s bevy of soccer-related festivities. Such presence was the all-pervasive and emotional Palestine presence over the FIFA 2022 that many media commentators dubbed it the 33rd country at the World Cup.
The major show of solidarity with the Palestinian cause came from the Moroccan team who raised a Palestinian flag while celebrating their win over Spain.
During the France-Tunisia game, a fan ran across the field, dodging security and flying the Palestinian flag. The crowds went berserk.
Moreover, the Tunisian and Moroccan fans raised a huge banner reading “Free Palestine” at the 48th minute of the matches versus Australia and Belgium. The banner was aimed at reminding the world of The Nakba (catastrophe) that Palestine has been suffering since 1948, when ‘Israel’ was established in occupied Palestine.
Looking at the abundant number of Palestinian flags, seeing the Palestinian armbands and bracelets, and hearing the “free Palestine” chants at the stadiums, fan zones, in the streets and on social media, one may think that Palestine is among the 32 countries whose teams have participated in this World Cup, according to Al-Jazeera News Website.
Palestine is the 33rd country of the World Cup Qatar 2022, Brazilian newspaper O Globo’s Ge Globo sports news site wrote about the oppressed Arab nation whose flag was raised during games held in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas thanked Qatar and its emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on Sunday, for using their position as hosts of the World Cup soccer tournament to promote the Palestinian cause.Abbas congratulated Qatar on its great success hosting the tournament and said it brought pride to our souls and the souls of our Arab nations.
The Zionist circles highlighted frustration pervading among the correspondents covering up the World Cup event due to the ill-treatment showed by the Arab fans.
According to the Zionist media. ‘Israel’ is detested by the Arab people and remains isolated among the world countries.
The Arab affairs expert Zvi Yehezkeli said that the Arab regimes which signed normalization deals with ‘Israel’ in order to gain an ally Iran, adding that the Arab people will never abandon the Palestinian people.
Yehezkeli added that the Arab fans in Qatar are committed to the liberation of all the Palestinian territories, noting that the conflict with the Palestinians may never be resolved.
The so-called counterterrorism committee in the Zionist entity said it protested to the Qatari authorities about the “acts of hatred against the Zionists in Qatar”, adding that it is continuously mulling the measures which should be taken to protect the Israelis from the Arab fans.
Although the military resistance is the main path that must be followed in order to liberate all the occupied Palestinian territories from the Zionists, such events are important to remind the whole world that ‘Israel’ is an illegitimate criminal entity, which must be eradicated, and Palestine must be liberated sooner or later.
It is worth noting that Hezbollah Deputy Chief Sheikh Naim Qassem congratulated the Moroccan Football team on its win over Spain.
Sheikh Qassem addressed the Moroccan team, saying: “You won when you were qualified to the quarter finals and raised Palestine’s flag.”
“We love you, o’ lions,” Sheikh Qassem concluded, congratulating Palestine for having such Arab supporters.
