General Security Chief Major General Abbas Ibrahim indicated that the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon is around 2,080,000, adding that a new batch of them will return to Syria soon.
Hosting a delegation from the press editors syndicate, General Ibrahim stressed that Lebanon does not need any approval from any country to take a decision pertaining the return of the Syrian refugees.
In this regard, General Ibrahim noted that 1600 Syrian refugees will be returned soon pending the Syrian authorities approval, adding that the illegal immigration from Lebanon affected the European stance which rejects the return of the Syrian refugees to their country.
Regarding the maritime border demarcation, General Ibrahim pointed out that a Lebanese delegation will be formed to follow up the required measures.
General Ibrahim hoped that Lebanon witnesses a new government formation and a consensual president election.
