According to the final version of the indirect maritime deal between Lebanon and the Zionist entity, the borders will be demarcated at line 23. Moreover, Lebanon will obtain Qana field without committing to any financial compensations.
In the introduction, the text indicates that, on September 29, 2020, the United States of America sent both Parties a letter to which it attached six points that reflected its understanding of the terms of reference (framework as announced by House Spaker Nabih Berri) for such negotiations.
The text is divided into four sections with annexations, stressing that the coordinates, which define the maritime boundary as agreed between the Parties for all points seaward of the easternmost point of the MBL disregard prejudice to the status of the land boundary.
The text also stipulates that exploration and exploitation of the Prospect shall be carried out in accordance with good petroleum industry practices on conservation of gas to maximize efficient recovery, operational safety, and environmental protection, and shall comply with the applicable laws and regulations in the area.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date on which the Government of the United States of America sends a notice, according to the text.
The Israeli occupation government approved on Wednesday the US-brokered maritime border agreement with Lebanon, with all its members voting in favor, except Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked who abstained, Israeli media reported.
