Narrating the agonies of the Lebanese people with the consequences of the power blackout has become insufficient to convince the caretaker prime minister Najib Mikati that approving the Iranian fuel donation is a must.
Mikati is still alleging that the Iranian answer about the specifications of the fuel intended to be donated to Lebanon is delaying his final approval.
The US siege on Lebanon includes a power outage that paralyzes all the economic activity in the country. Mikati has not been able to break the US siege by approving the Iranian donation.
In an interview with Al-Manar, the energy minister said that he was still waiting for the final okay of Mikati in order to coordinate with the Iranian side the implementation of the donation agreement.
It is worth noting that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah had announced during a televised interview last month that he is ready to mediate a free fuel donation from Iran in order to cope with the power crisis in Lebanon.
Fear of the US sanctions prevented the Lebanese government from accepting the offer immediately. So, will Mikati change his attitude and approve the Iranian donation?
