The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Al-Bukhari, has reportedly backed off in the bid to choose a new prime minister after learning that nominating an anti-Hezbollah candidate is impossible.
According to Al-Manar TV sources, Al-Bukhari is afraid of suffering a new setback after losing the parliamentary elections battle which led to the failure of most of the candidates he had supported.
The binding parliamentary consultations, which would be held at Baabda Palace on June 23, will reveal the identity of the premier-designate amid gloomy data, the sources added.
The caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati, may have the highest chances to be chosen by the members of the parliament, according to the same sources which excluded surprises in the nomination regard.
