In the final statement of the 18th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana format, the guarantor states reiterated their firm commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The guarantor states affirmed their determination to continue working to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and to stand against separatist agendas aimed at undermining Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The guarantor states condemned the terrorist attacks that target civilian facilities in Syria and lead to innocent victims, reiterating the need to continue cooperation in order to eliminate the terrorist organizations of “ISIL” and al-Nusra Front and all other individuals, groups and entities associated with them.
The statement emphasized the leading role of the Astana track in settling the crisis, stressing that lasting security and stability in northeastern Syria can only be achieved on the basis of preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
