Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stressed that the judicial investigator into Beirut Port blast, Tarek Al-Bitar, and those who back him are deactivating the constitutional institutions and confiscating the powers of the parliament.
Sheikh Qassem added that the performance of judge Bitar offended the judiciary, wondering whether it is logical that judge remain in office while 20 lawsuits have been filed to recuse him.
Sheikh Qassem stressed that the solution lies in restoring the powers of the parliament pertaining the trial of the presidents and ministers.
Al-Bitar had issued arrest warrants against officials as well as military figures on an illogical basis, pushing the defendants and observers to cast doubts on his probe.
On August 4, 2020, a massive blast rocked Beirut Port blast, killing around 195 citizens and injuring over 6000 of others. The explosion also caused much destruction in the capital and its suburbs.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Qassem called on the government and all the competent authorities to assume their responsibilities in coping with the socioeconomic crisis and fighting speculators.
Sheikh Qassem emphasized that all the Lebanese parties and organizations that conspire with the US administration against their nation are partners in the American blockade on Lebanon.
